When I was in gr. 12 I had an English teacher who diminished my desire to write with the comment: ‘what, are you stupid?’
From a young age, I loved reading and writing. I love language and ancient dictionaries, I love poetic sentences, and that comment took years to recover from.
My recent writings are me, reclaiming my power of the written word.
What I’ve learned from that experience is to do what you love, create art in the way that makes your heart sing, and fight those boundaries you have created for yourself.
From my notebook to yours.
